Day 48 - Fun Times in Sydney

It was an early start for Parkrun this morning. I did manage a quick bowl of cereal before I headed out the hotel and walked the 2km to the start-line of Pirrama Parkrun.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and the start-line had views of both the ANZAC and Harbour bridges. There were three others from my tour group park running too, so we all got some good photos.

It would be fair to say that my effort was less a run than a ‘walk with moments of enthusiasm’, but I enjoyed myself and had definitely done a bit of exercise by the time I got back to the hotel for a shower and change.

It was then a walk to the light-rail stop, a trip down to Circular Quay, and a trip on the Manly ferry over to meet the Campbells for brunch. The views from the ferry were awesome, with views of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and Sydney skyline.

Stephen picked me up from the ferry terminal, and we went to a lovely cafe for brunch. I had pancakes, having felt that I had definitely earned them from my morning’s efforts! It was lovely to catch up with Stephen and to spend time with Team Campbell.

Albie and Isla had been quite taken by geocaching yesterday, and both had the app installed on their phones for today! We therefore had a lovely walk around Manly, picking up a good number of caches as we went. Alex and Stephen think that geocaching may well be a game changer for family walks!

Our walk ended back at the ferry terminal, where I headed back over to Circular Quay. It was very, very busy there today with both a large cruise ship visiting and a lot of pre Christmas festivities. I found a nice spot to enjoy a drink with a view though before getting the light-rail back up to my hotel.

I had thoughts about heading back out as there are various events going on in the city tonight, but was rather cream-crackered, so had some down-time and went to the nice bistro restaurant next door to my hotel for a steak dinner. The food was delicious, but I remain confused by some of the Christmas music playing - ‘Baby, it’s cold outside’ felt…. Inaccurate!

All in all, another fab day!
