Day 8 - A Day By the Water

I woke up to beautiful clear blue skies this morning - perfect exploration weather. Fuelled with a delicious mango smoothie and bacon ciabatta, I then headed down towards the waterfront, using geocaches as my route guide! I had a lovely wander past the Ferry Building and along Queen’s Wharf and Prince’s Wharf.

My morning was essentially staring at the water (I know I take after my Dad. Lesley, I forgot to add to the ‘Woman staring at water’ series I’m afraid though!) and hunting for some very cleverly hidden geocaches.

I also very much enjoyed visiting various tourist shops - having to remind myself when I saw the below that I do have a baggage weight limit.

I stopped for a scone and cup of tea for a light lunch, and generally just continued to walk and cache into the early afternoon. Sadly I did not have my swimming costume with me for the harbour pool…. It did look a bit chilly, so probably for the best!

Having stopped off at the supermarket (finding Cheerios - huzzah!) on my way back to my apartment, I thought I would just have a bit of downtime and read my book for a bit before heading back out. I did read a chapter before I fell to sleep… luckily waking up in time to then go out for a fish and chip dinner at a nearby pub.

I have decided that I very much like Auckland - especially in this weather. I have promised Jane and Tony that I will make sure the sunshine stays here for when they arrive.
