Day 23 - A Final Stroll around Stockholm. Next stop - Helsinki!
Let’s start with last night - after a lovely dinner I did indeed go up on the observation deck nearby and got some lovely views of the city.
I had a slow start this morning on account of a busy day yesterday and my bed being very comfortable! I also had to pack up my belongings in my box and check out.
I had a vague notion of going to the Nobel Prize museum, but the weather was absolutely delightful, and it felt like a waste to go indoors, so instead I wandered back over to Gamla Stan to a few areas I had not yet seen.
I stopped off for some breakfast and then went to visit Riddarholmen Church, a medieval church and the final resting place of Swedish royals.
It was soon time to head to the ferry terminal. I must confess to having been quite nervous about the ferry, as I do not have good sea-legs and it has been many, many years since I last spent a night on a boat.
Despite being advertised as a ferry, this is very much a floating hotel. The giveaway was definitely when I found out that there is a nightclub and casino onboard!
I had paid a bit more for a cabin with a sea-view to stop me freaking out too much, and it is quite cute:
Clearly they wanted me to feel at home onboard, as soon after we set off there was a pub quiz - with all the questions about the duty free shop! I did not win, but fun was had.
I am now just having dinner at the buffet restaurant. There really is ALL the food. Luckily the boat is big enough for me to be able to have a bit of a walk afterwards!
