Day 20 - From Gothenburg to Stockholm
There isn’t a huge amount to say today really. A leisurely start in Gothenburg (I really came to like the cute old hotel there!) and a trundle to the station for my train. The train journey was, to be honest, totally uneventful - I did some good listening to podcasts and looking out the window, as well as watching some Survivor on Amazon Prime (don’t judge!) and looking over a pupil’s Extended Essay that I meant to do a couple of weeks ago…
As an aside, I did enjoy the existence of these sweets, even if their taste left quite a bit to be desired. The story of Ferrari in recent years, I guess - looks good, but lacking performance.
I arrived in Stockholm mid afternoon and went straight to my hotel, navigating the metro with aplomb if I say so myself. I am staying at the Citybox here, a great concept of simple, basic rooms, but a lovely communal area and facilities like a shared kitchen and laundry - just what I need and the perfect mix of hostel and hotel. It is also really well located, with the only caveat to this being the nearby construction work. I really am starting to think Sweden might want my skills on a digger.
I’d woken up with a bit of a headache this morning, so had a nap in my box before taking a wander to the old town in Gamla Stan. I had a nice dinner, and a look around lots of the tourist shops! I made the big decision to buy a little Christmas ornament - it will travel well with my scarf!
I capped the day off with an ice-cream and am now making use of the laundry facilities!
A busy day is planned for tomorrow with the ABBA museum very much top of the list.
