Day 15 - From Z to A

An early alarm clock after a late night (which is what I am blaming my failure at wordle on), but I immediately knew that it was worth it when I arrived at Amager Strandpark - a seaside public park with views overlooking Sweden and the bridge that links Denmark and Sweden. Having got my Z parkrun last week, I figured that it was poetic to get A today!

As always happens at Parkrun, I made lots of friends (there were a lot of Brits here) and got talking to the RD, Hans, who I had emailed earlier in the week as I was worried about how fast it looked like everyone running this Parkrun usually is. I joked with him at the start that I could be the tailwalker, an offer that was accepted!

It was a beautiful course (even if running one loop anti-clockwise and then one clockwise kind of blew my mind!) and I loved my run/walk. Parkrun here is very ‘light-touch’ - I.e no marshals and actually no hi-vis - but that just made it nice and peaceful. It turns out that I was naturally the tail-walker, even though I was nearly a minute quicker than I was last week! Turns out I don’t mind being the final finisher if I get a volunteer credit too!

After parkrun, lots of people went for a swim. I had not brought my swimming kit, so had a paddle instead, as I was not quite prepared to embrace the skinny dipping that was going on! There was then time for a few geocaches before returning to my hotel for a shower. I’m not sure how popular I was on the packed metro in my smelly running kit, but it couldn’t be helped.

With a thunderstorm thunder-storming, I decided to stay in the hotel for a bit and to watch the Lions and the similar weather in Australia. I had to brave the rain eventually though and (via a nice tea stop!) went to the Danish National Museum. It was a great museum, and really well set out to take you chronologically through thousands of years of history. With an excellent audio-guide tour, I had a great time!

A bit of a wander around the city, and I then once more returned to the hotel - not least as my feet are complaining about what I have been asking from them in recent days!

I think that Copenhagen has been one of my favourite places to visit so far - there is so much to see and do in this beautiful city. But I am moving on tomorrow, crossing the bridge to Sweden 🇸🇪, via Malmo and going up to Gothenburg, where I shall be until Thursday.
