Day 8 - The One with the Z Parkrun
One of the reasons why I wanted to visit Den Haag was because it is home to Zuiderpark Parkrun. Some might say that this is simply younger sibling syndrome, as Matt has completed the Parkrun alphabet except for Z but I am viewing it as the fact that I was collecting the Z for the family group. For the record, I am nowhere near the alphabet (I think I might have 7 letters….).
I caught the tram out to the park, and befriended other Parkrunners on my way - there were a lot of Brits there! I had a lovely walk, with moments of running enthusiasm, around the park. I was not speedy, although faster than my effort around Ferry Meadows the other week, but loved taking in the scenery. The route was also pleasingly circular!
I caught the tram back with my new friends from Ireland - Anita and Ruairi - and happy made it back in time to The Social Hub in time for a well-earned (and delicious) breakfast.
I decided to stay in for a couple of hours then to watch the Lions match. I was very pleased that I did, although I’m not sure that it was good for my fingernails or heart.
It was then back on the tram to visit the Peace Palace, most famously home of the ICJ. It is difficult to get on a tour, so I made do with an audio guide of the visitor centre.
My final stop for the day was to be the beach. It was very people-y, despite the overcast weather, but I had a lovely ride on the big London Eye like Ferris Wheel, and enjoyed a walk along the front (finding the compsulsory geocache, of course).
It is now back to the hotel to do some laundry and sorting ahead of my onward journey to Amsterdam tomorrow.
