Day 12 - A Rainy Day in Bremen
I awoke this morning to very British weather - I would say very much ‘a bowling day’ given the overcast conditions, but the rain probably would have stopped play.
A hotel breakfast was a good way to start the day though - SO much choice, and I do love it when I can have cereal (sadly still no Cheerios to be seen but cornflakes will do).
My plan for the day was to walk back into the city centre, visiting a few more sights, finding somewhere to buy a charging cable for my AirPods (doh!), and hopefully completing the ‘WhereIGo’ cache.
I achieved most of my objectives - I met Roland:
… who is a UNESCO world heritage site, visited St Petri Dom cathedral
and enjoyed ‘having’ to stop for a couple of tea stops to avoid the rain. Sadly, the Whereigo eluded me though. To explain, these caches use your GPS and you have to visit certain ‘zones’ to unlock aspects of the puzzle. This Whereigo required you to visit 21 of the top tourist locations in Bremen…. Although it would not tell you which ones, simply alerting you if you found one. I walked and walked, but alas, decided to call it a day when I got to 12 (I needed 15 to unlock the next stage). I can at least be confident that I have visited 12 of the top tourist locations in Bremen now!
I then returned to my hotel for some down time (read: a nap) before finding a lovely Italian restaurant for some dinner.
Tomorrow promises to be a long day on the trains - a train to Hamburg, the S Bahn in Hamburg, and then three more trains to Copenhagen as all the direct trains for the next few days are fully booked. I am pleased to report that I will have charged AirPods for the journey though!
